At 1 ACT Driving Schools, our training focuses on the skills that matter most for safe, confident driving in real traffic. We teach students based on understanding right-of-way rules, anticipate hazards seconds before happening, and immediately make smart driving decisions so they avoid hesitation and drive with confidence.

Depending on the lesson package, students will practice:

Right-of-way rules and intersection safety

Defensive driving and hazard awareness

Looking ahead and anticipating traffic situations 2 seconds ahead of time

Parking, parallel parking, backing, turnabout/three-point turns and more

Lane changes, merging, and proper lane positioning

Blind-spot awareness and avoiding other vehicles' blind areas

Safe left turns, right turns, and complex intersections with incoming traffic

Interstate and highway driving skills and necessary precautions

Proper following distance and speed control

Safe responses to challenging traffic and road conditions

How Long Are Driving Lessons, and How Many Hours Do You Need?

Every lesson at 1 ACT Driving Schools is exactly two hours - lessons cannot be booked shorter than that. How many total hours you need depends on your experience level, not a fixed rule:

Complete beginners: 12–14 hours
Teens with regular parent practice: 8–10 hours
Adults with prior driving experience: 6–8 hours
Nervous or anxious drivers: 14+ hours

Georgia's Joshua's Law sets a legal floor of 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction for teens completing Driver's Education - but 6 hours is the legal minimum, not the recommended standard. Most families add hours based on how ready their teen feels, and our instructors can help you gauge that after the first lesson.
