20-hour DUI/Risk Reduction Class—$260

After completing the NEEDS Assessment, you must attend the full 20-hour DUI/Risk Reduction course. Sessions must be taken consecutively. Available via live Zoom or in-person at any of our 7 Atlanta-area locations.

Mandated by the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS). Fee is identical at every certified provider in Georgia.

What Happens During the 20-Hour Class?

The DUI/Risk Reduction Program is a structured, live instructor-led course that covers far more than just the legal requirements. Here is what the 20 hours include.

Georgia DUI Laws and Legal Consequences	Georgia DUI statutes, the administrative license suspension process, fines and penalties, the impact of a DUI conviction on your driving record and insurance.
The Impact of Impaired Driving	Real-world data on crashes, fatalities, and the human cost of driving impaired. Designed to build awareness, not to shame - consistent with the program's risk reduction focus.
Defensive Driving and Hazard Recognition	Practical skills for identifying risks on the road, managing distractions, and making safer decisions behind the wheel going forward.
Responsible Decision-Making	Tools and strategies for making different choices in future situations involving alcohol, drugs, and driving. The program takes a non-judgmental, forward-looking approach.
Assessment and Completion	Near the end of the program, you complete a knowledge check quiz. Passing is required to receive your DDS certificate of completion.

The program is delivered live by a DDS-certified instructor - not recorded or self-paced. Participants are expected to be fully present and on camera for the duration.

1 ACT Driving Schools is licensed by the Georgia Department of Driver Services to deliver the DUI/Risk Reduction Program at seven Atlanta-area locations: Sandy Springs (#10102), Lawrenceville (#10424), Alpharetta (#10391), East Cobb/Marietta (#10375), Johns Creek (#10429), and West Cobb/Marietta (#10433). The live Zoom course satisfies the same DDS requirement as in-person attendance and the certificate is identical. Where Does This Program Fit in the Georgia DUI Process?

A DUI charge in Georgia involves two parallel systems: the criminal court process and the Georgia DDS license reinstatement process. The DUI Risk Reduction Program is a required step in the DDS reinstatement track. Here is how the broader process typically unfolds.

5	Certificate of Completion	Submit to the court as proof of program completion, if required.	Submit to Georgia DDS as part of the formal license reinstatement application.

Note: First-time vs. repeat offenses.

For a first-time DUI, the Risk Reduction Program is typically the required course. For repeat offenses, or cases involving reckless driving, drug possession, or a judge's specific order, a Clinical Evaluation or Victim Impact Panel may also be required in addition to this program.

How Your Live Zoom DUI Class Works

The DUI/Risk Reduction Program has more steps than a standard driving course. Here is the full process from registration to certificate.

1. Register & Pay

Complete registration and payment online. $360 total covers both the NEEDS Assessment ($100) and the 20-hour class and book ($260). Login credentials are sent to your email. You will also receive, or can collect from any branch, a course information booklet before your first class.

2. GARRP Registration

Watch for an email with your GARRP (Georgia Alcohol and Drug Awareness Risk Reduction Program) registration link. Complete the required details on the GARRP portal. This step must be done before the NEEDS Assessment.

3. NEEDS Assessment Questionnaire ($100)

A link to the NEEDS Assessment is sent to your registered email. Complete the 20–30 minute questionnaire online from home before your first class day. This is a DDS requirement. Class cannot begin without it. This is not the same as a Clinical Evaluation.

Class Guidelines — Please Read Before Proceeding

Class Attendance Rules (DDS Requirements):

Zoom Required: Download Zoom Workplace on your device before class (if required).
Camera & Audio: A working camera, microphone, and stable internet connection are mandatory throughout the session.
Full Attention Required: No distractions during class — no working, driving, sitting in cars, shopping, watching TV, or substance use.
Punctuality Matters: Log in 10–15 minutes before class. Tardiness is not permitted. If you have not received the Zoom link one hour before class, contact us immediately at 770-274-4223.
Pre-Class Requirements: Complete your GARRP paperwork and assessment before joining class. This paperwork has a submission deadline - complete it as early as possible to avoid delays or needing to reschedule.

Important: Failure to follow these rules will result in removal from the class, forfeiture of fees, and the need to repay and restart the course.

Is the certificate the same for Zoom and in-person?

Yes. The Georgia Department of Driver Services issues the same certificate regardless of whether you complete the program via live Zoom or in-person at one of our 7 locations.

Can I take Georgia DUI school if I live in another state?

If your DUI occurred in Georgia, you must complete the program in Georgia. If you live out of state, contact Georgia DDS at (678) 413-8400 before enrolling to confirm acceptance of your completion certificate.

Is a live Zoom DUI class accepted by Georgia courts?

Yes. Our live Zoom course is DDS-certified and court-approved. Georgia courts accept the DDS certificate regardless of whether the class was attended in person or via live Zoom.

Do I need to be on camera during the Zoom class?

Yes. Participants are required to be on camera for the duration of the Zoom session to satisfy DDS attendance requirements. A working webcam and stable internet connection are required.

What happens if I am late to a session or miss a class?

The 20-hour course must be completed consecutively and in full. If you miss a session you will need to restart or reschedule. Contact us at 770-274-4223 as soon as possible if you have an attendance issue.

How soon can I start after registering?

In most cases, you can begin within days of registering. Class slots are available 7 days a week. Check the registration calendar for the next available session, or call 770-274-4223 for assistance.

Can I take the NEEDS Assessment before paying for the full class?

No - the NEEDS Assessment link is sent after registration and payment are complete. The $100 assessment fee is included in the $360 total.

What is the difference between the NEEDS Assessment and a Clinical Evaluation?

The NEEDS Assessment ($100, included in your $360) is a brief online questionnaire required before the 20-hour class. A Clinical Evaluation is a separate, independent assessment used to determine whether substance abuse treatment is needed - it is not part of the DUI/Risk Reduction Program.

Will I receive a physical certificate or is it emailed?

Your certificate from the Georgia Department of Driver Services will be emailed the next business day by 5:30 PM. You can also access it through the student portal. Contact us if you need a physical copy.

What do I need to attend the Zoom class?

A device with a working camera and microphone (smartphone, tablet, or computer), a stable internet connection, and the free Zoom app. You must be on camera for the full class duration.
